Feeding Project Expands to Include Breakfast and Lunch in Liberia
Our team in Liberia implemented a new feeding project in 2023.
Almost a year later, the project has been so impactful that our team started providing breakfast too, in addition to lunch. 450 orphaned and vulnerable children who attend our school and their teachers are now being served two nutritious meals each day.
These meals offer more than just physical sustenance. They are a tangible representation to each child that he or she is seen, known, and loved. As nutritious breakfasts and lunches lead to improved health, better focus, and increased energy, the children we serve have a greater capacity to achieve their hopes and dreams.
Four orphaned young adults in our program
share how the holistic, Gospel-centered care they receive has opened the door for them to learn, dream, build meaningful relationships, and pursue a career. They recognize these blessings wouldn’t have been possible without the restorative work of God through Lifesong.
“My prayer is that when I finish high school, I can become a medical doctor. I pray and hope that my dream comes true. I want to become a brain surgeon to save many lives. Being at Lifesong has made me more comfortable, because I have more friends and people to advise and comfort me.” – Delight
“After high school, I want to become a lawyer. For 15 years, I’ve been at Lifesong, and I give God the glory for everything.” – Quita
“My vision for my life is to become a computer analyst. I’m attending college and studying IT. At Lifesong, I have opportunities other children don’t have, and I pray that God would help me achieve my goals. I serve Him with all of my heart.” – Princess
“After high school, I want to join the military because I want to serve my country.” – Samuel
At Lifesong, we stand by a 4-part pledge to the children we serve. The second part of the pledge affirms our commitment to providing holistic care to orphaned and vulnerable children so they don’t lack food, clothing, medical care, and shelter. For Delight, Quita, Princess, and Samuel, this means having their daily needs met so they can focus on their walk with God and pursuing a promising future.
Today, the children we serve have all of their needs met.
This is a remarkable gift, given that nearly one million Liberians live in extreme poverty. Still, God continues to work through our team to care for the children who attend Lifesong Christian Academy, in addition to 85 orphans who live in safe housing on campus and 200 young adults pursuing vocational training at Lifesong Vocational College.
Emmanuel, a ministry leader shares—
“As we feed hungry kids in our Lifesong School in Liberia and other places, darkness is being rolled away, and the light of God is shining.”
While food, clothing, and medical care cannot change the difficult circumstances orphaned children have endured, holistic care can be the beginning of creating a safe and secure environment where God can heal the broken pieces of their stories.
