Empowering Caregivers to Care for Orphans in Ukraine and Poland
Since opening two new Day Centers,
our team in Poland is serving over 1,000 orphaned and vulnerable children every day.
As the ministry continues to grow, our teams in Ukraine and Poland know that to provide holistic, Gospel-centered care, we need to empower and equip everyone who cares for orphaned and vulnerable children with training, resources, and a strong and supportive community.
That’s why our team makes it a priority to invest in the lives of staff and volunteers, in addition to adoptive and foster families.
At the Trauma Care Center in Western Ukraine,
82 team members from across Ukraine and Poland attended a four-day training and retreat. They received education on trauma-informed care, learned about Vacation Bible School and mentorship opportunities, and heard from experts in psychology. They played games, prayed, and were inspired by their time together, a much-needed break from the anxiety of looming missile strikes in Eastern Ukraine.
A team member from Ukraine shares—
“This experience provided vital physical and spiritual renewal for all of us as mentors to the children we serve.”
As a result of the retreat and the meetings that followed, five additional church partners committed to joining the mission to care for orphaned children.
Another way our team empowers those who provide holistic, Gospel-centered care to orphans is through supporting Christian adoptive families in Ukraine and Poland.
In one case, a 63-year-old grandmother stepped up to take care of her three grandchildren when their mothers—her two daughters—passed away in the war. She received support from Lifesong to apply to officially foster them.
Our team is walking alongside her.
They have helped ensure that her grandchildren aren’t placed in an orphanage, and they are providing resources to make sure the children’s physical, emotional, and educational needs are met. A pastor who volunteers on our team meets with the grandmother to mentor her and care for her heart as she cares for her grandchildren. This support makes such a difference!
At Lifesong, we stand by a 4-part pledge to the children we serve. The second part of the pledge affirms our commitment to providing holistic care to orphaned and vulnerable children so they don’t lack food, clothing, medical care, and shelter.
As our teams in Ukraine and Poland care for those who care for the children we serve, they make it possible for orphaned and vulnerable children to receive the very best care they can.
As our team in Ukraine shares—
“Our kids have eternal hope, mentorship, and the support they need for a brighter future.”
Pray for Ukraine & Poland
- Praise God that the older children in Poland were able to attend a Christian conference for teenagers. Many of them made a commitment to follow Jesus.
- Praise God for his protection over the children, team members, and their families. Pray for God’s continued protection.
- Pray for physical and emotional health for all staff members and volunteers. War fatigue and anxiety has become deeply rooted in daily life. Pray for God’s deliverance.
- Pray for construction of a bomb shelter at one of the farms in Ukraine to be completed.
- Pray for an end to the war in Ukraine.
Join our prayer team to receive monthly prayer requests & praises from across our ministry.
