Fueled by Gratitude | Mwikwabe’s Story

The Lord has been faithful to our team and the children we serve in Tanzania. We continue to plan the construction of a new primary school building. And as we look ahead, we are excited for all the amazing things God will do.

As always, don’t forget to check out the encouraging story and prayer requests below.

—Tanzania Team

Mwikwabe was born to two loving parents in Tanzania.

But when he was still a child, his mother became ill and passed away. Not long after, his father also passed, leaving him and his three younger siblings to fend for themselves.

With no parents to support them, Mwikwabe and his siblings were forced to turn to manual labor to survive. Life became unbearably difficult. He shares—

“I remember days when we went to bed hungry, unable to meet even our most basic needs.”

Thankfully, one by one, his siblings received help, and new homes and caregivers were provided. But Mwikwabe, being the oldest and a teenager, was left behind. No one wanted to take in a teenage boy. Without support, Mwikwabe dropped out of school and began living on the streets.

But God had good plans for Mwikwabe’s life.

In 2016, Mwikwabe began receiving holistic, Gospel-centered care from our team in Tanzania. Our team provided him with a safe home, daily meals, medical care, and the opportunity to attend school.

At Lifesong, we stand by a 4-part pledge to the children we serve. The second part of the pledge affirms our commitment to providing holistic care to orphaned and vulnerable children so they don’t lack food, clothing, medical care, and shelter.

“Our Children” Will:

Be taught the Gospel and how to live as a follower of Jesus Christ

Not want for food, clothing, medical care, or shelter

Receive a quality education to provide a foundation for their future

Experience continued love and support while transitioning into adult living

A team member shares—

“These simple yet essential things reignited Mwikwabe’s hope. For the first time in years, he felt a sense of stability and care.”

Now a diligent high-school student, Mwikwabe works hard every day, fueled by gratitude.

His life has taken a complete turn, and he’s determined to make the most of it. With a smile on his face, Mwikwabe shares—

“I am very thankful because the Lord has given me a chance to build a future for myself.”
