How Our Team Became Julio’s Family | An Update from Bolivia
In Bolivia, we continue to care for orphaned and vulnerable children. Our hearts are moved by their perseverance and the joy they share with those around them. Life has not always been easy for the children we serve, but God is transforming their lives before our eyes.

At just 6 months old, Julio was welcomed by our team in Bolivia.
His mother didn’t have the means to care for him. When his extended family also disappeared, Julio became legally able to be adopted.
But when Julio was a baby, his doctors predicted he would never be able to walk. Since Bolivia is closed to international adoptions and Bolivian culture makes it difficult to understand the gift of adopting a child with a disability, Julio is still waiting for a family 11 years later.
But in the meantime, Julio found another kind of family
—a family who loves him as he is and will do anything to help him.
From the very beginning of his life, our team invested in various therapies for Julio. They played with him, practiced movements with him, provided him with nutritious meals, and ensured he received the medications he needed.

Slowly but surely, their efforts paid off as Julio built enough strength and coordination to eventually be able to put one foot in front of the other. They believed God could do wonderful things in his life.
At Lifesong, we stand by a 4-part pledge to the children we serve. The second part of the pledge affirms our commitment to providing holistic care to orphaned and vulnerable children so they don’t lack food, clothing, medical care, and shelter.

Experience continued love and support while transitioning into adult living
Now, Julio attends classes with the other children, where he is well-supported by his teachers with necessary adaptations. He continues to receive various therapies, including speech therapy, physical therapy, and equine therapy at specialized centers.
As Julio grows, he shares joy and strength with those around him.
