A Home for Ferdinand’s Four Children

At Welcome Home Haiti, our team of 120 employees works together to build 4 houses each month. Recently, we converted our block machines to electric with solar power, which will help us continue building homes for vulnerable families.

As always, don’t forget to check out the encouraging story and prayer requests below.

Ferdinand was without steady employment.

He farmed a small area in Haiti to provide food for his family, and his wife sold the leftovers to add to the family income, but they still didn’t have enough money to provide for all four of their children.

Nonetheless, they leaned on their faith in the Lord, praying and trusting that God would provide.

Soon, Ferdinand was recommended for a position with Welcome Home Haiti on the landscaping crew. His new job meant stability for him and his family, as well as a consistent, fair income.

As Ferdinand came to work each day,

his demeanor began to change, and he started to smile more. In 2023, he participated in company fellowship activities with his family. And in 2024, Ferdinand and his wife attended a marriage conference, held by Welcome Home Haiti for all employees and their spouses. It was the first time they had stayed in a hotel or been away together.

By God’s grace, their marriage and family were changing for the better.

But at the end of 2024, after Ferdinand was promoted at Welcome Home Haiti to working in the block business, his family started to face another challenge. After many years of living with his mother-in-law, their extended family became upset with them for their faith, and their living environment was no longer safe for his children.

So Ferdinand signed up for the employee house-build program.

And by December of the same year, Welcome Home Haiti began constructing a home for Ferdinand’s family.

At Lifesong, we stand by a 4-part pledge to the children we serve. The second part of the pledge affirms our commitment to providing holistic care to orphaned and vulnerable children so they don’t lack food, clothing, medical care, and shelter. One way our team in Haiti provides for the needs of children is through building homes for vulnerable families.

“Our Children” Will:

Be taught the Gospel and how to live as a follower of Jesus Christ

Not want for food, clothing, medical care, or shelter

Receive a quality education to provide a foundation for their future

Experience continued love and support while transitioning into adult living

At the dedication of the house, Ferdinand shared—

“Over the last few months, I felt as if I had an illness, and I couldn’t heal myself. And today, God, Himself has healed me. I want to say thank you to my boss and his wife, and all of the Welcome Home Haiti supporters. Even though those supporters do not necessarily recognize me, they have contributed greatly so that I could have a house for my family. We have great joy in our hearts today.”

Ferdinand’s new home, built by our team at Welcome Home Haiti

The smiles on the faces of Ferdinand’s children as they stepped into their new home and saw their new bedrooms filled our team in Haiti with joy. God provided a home for Ferdinand’s four children, and in doing so, they have been blessed with physical, financial, and spiritual security, creating a brighter future for generations to come.
