Gabriel Thrives in School Through God’s Grace

Gabriel* was abandoned by his mother during his first year of life.

When she left, he stayed with other family members but experienced neglect and abuse. Instead of attending school, he spent his days roaming the streets in search of food. This left him with feelings of fear and uncertainty.

When Gabriel came to our team in Bolivia and started going to school, things began to change.

At first, the adjustment was difficult for Gabriel. He had to learn how to adapt to a structured environment, attending school for the first time at the age of 7. He struggled with developing good study habits and reading and writing at his grade level.

These struggles were compounded by bullying from peers. Gabriel endured harsh comments that led him to feel lonely, abandoned, fearful, and lacking self-esteem.

Much like David and Goliath, Gabriel began to conquer these giants and started to flourish with the guidance and encouragement of our team who showed him he is seen, known, and loved.

A ministry leader reflected on Gabriel’s journey—

Gabriel smiles on campus.

We have seen the grace of God rescue Gabriel.”

At Lifesong, we stand by a 4-part pledge to the children we serve. The third part of the pledge affirms our commitment to providing quality education to orphaned and vulnerable children to provide a foundation for their future.

“Our Children” Will:

Be taught the Gospel and how to live as a follower of Jesus Christ

Not want for food, clothing, medical care, or shelter

Receive a quality education to provide a foundation for their future

Experience continued love and support while transitioning into adult living

Now 9 years old, Gabriel has strong study habits and is proficient in reading and writing.

He even represents his school in district-level chess competitions. His friends at school organized a birthday party for him, bringing him a profound sense of joy and belonging.

Today, Gabriel’s accomplishments are a testament to his perseverance and the support he received from our team in Bolivia.

His rescue story is a powerful reminder of the goodness and grace of God in Psalm 55—

Gabriel competes on the chess team.

“Cast your cares on the LORD, and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.”
