Safe and Secure Homes in Haiti Needed Now More Than Ever
During the current crisis in Haiti, it is not uncommon for homes to be taken over by gangs.
When a pastor named Jacquelin, and his wife, were out of town, they received a call that their home in Port-au-Prince had been invaded by gangs. In Jacquelin’s words—”We lost everything.”
Thankfully, our team at Welcome Home Haiti stepped in to help. They provided Jacquelin and his family with a new home, a caring community, and job opportunities. Jacquelin shares—
“God made a way, and our paths crossed with Welcome Home Haiti. It is by the hand of God and his provision that we have this new home.”
In the process of building homes, our team employs over 100 men and women, offering living-wage jobs in construction, security, cooking, and carpentry. Employees and the families we serve have access to discipleship opportunities, weekly Bible studies, community groups, marriage counseling and conferences, and opportunities to participate in community outreach.
Our team in Haiti has been building homes for vulnerable families and children since 2010.
By the end of 2024, God willing, it is our goal to:
- Continue building 4 homes per month for a total of 300 homes built since 2010.
- Add a concrete block machine to our current compressed-earth block operations and expand the solar energy system to ultimately save money.
- Empower and equip employees and local church leaders to meet the urgent needs of their neighbors at a time when unrest, inflation, and food insecurity levels are high.
