Jeremiah’s Passion to Share the Gospel | An Update from Liberia

Jeremiah came to Lifesong 16 years ago,

when he was just four years old. He was one of the orphaned and vulnerable children in the second group of kids invited to receive care from our team in Liberia.

Every morning and every evening, the children and staff members would gather for a devotion and prayer time. As Jeremiah and the other children heard the Good News of the Gospel, they began to understand how the Gospel was at work in their lives too.

One by one, many of them made the decision to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

At Lifesong, we stand by a four-part pledge to the children we serve. The first part of the pledge affirms our commitment to teach orphaned and vulnerable children the Gospel and how to live as a follower of Jesus Christ.

“Our Children” Will:

Be taught the Gospel and how to live as a follower of Jesus Christ

Not want for food, clothing, medical care, or shelter

Receive a quality education to provide a foundation for their future

Experience continued love and support while transitioning into adult living

In 2020, Jeremiah and six other teenagers joined a new discipleship program in Liberia.

Together with staff, they explored God’s Word, grew in fellowship with one another, and held each other accountable. They served within the church and grew even more in their walk with Jesus.

Liberia Country Director, Emmanuel shares—

“Our focus is to raise and disciple followers of Jesus Christ who, in turn, disciple others to follow Jesus Christ.”

Now, Jeremiah is a young leader in his church.

He plays the organ and sings praises to God in choir.

But Jeremiah doesn’t just participate in worship because he’s a gifted musician; his goal is to share the love of God with more orphaned and vulnerable children like him through performance art and music.

Jeremiah says—

“For me, being a disciple of Jesus means following in His footsteps by dying to yourself and living for Him alone.”

Jeremiah graduated high school last year and now attends Lifesong’s Vocational College where he is studying electricity. In addition to learning many practical skills that will help him find employment, Jeremiah will start Bible school this year, helping him live out his passion to share the Gospel with the unreached.

Pray for Liberia

  • Praise God that our feeding program has been successful. Children continue to receive hot meals every day and are excited to come to school.
  • Praise God that students will graduate from vocational college in February 2024. Pray that they will find meaningful employment and be examples of Christ’s love in their communities.
  • Pray for wisdom, patience, and discernment for teachers and staff as they not only teach children but disciple them too.
  • Pray for wisdom for the caregivers at the orphanage who are walking with teenage girls through issues of disobedience.
  • Pray for healing for a 7-month-old baby who has been sick with pneumonia.
