Nagesa is Lighting the Way for Younger Students in Uganda

2 Peter 1:5–8, reads, “For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
As we continue to serve orphaned and vulnerable children by God’s grace in Uganda, we meditate on these things.
Over the past several weeks, we’ve had many things to celebrate: a new school year beginning, a Christian camp for our secondary students, and progress on the high school building project. Thank you for your continued support in helping orphans become leaders and reach their God-given potential.
—Uganda Team
11 new preschoolers are receiving care at our school in Uganda.
Though they are young now, there are many older orphaned and vulnerable children for them to look up to. One day, they will graduate from high school and become disciples, servant leaders, role models, and agents for positive change in their communities, just like their older peers.
Our team stands by a four-part pledge to the children we serve. The first part of the pledge affirms our commitment to teach orphaned and vulnerable children the Gospel and how to live as a follower of Jesus Christ.
The preschoolers look up to the secondary students we serve. Recently, 82 of these secondary students participated in a Christian camp that inspired them in their faith. Volunteers provided mentorship and discipleship, creating a vibrant atmosphere where faith was explored joyfully and authentically.
At the camp, we praise God that 16 students accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
As the orphaned and vulnerable children we serve continue to learn and grow, a comfortable and spacious secondary school is under construction. The second floor is currently under construction, and the primary spaces will likely be ready before the next school term.

Nagesa* is one of the secondary students who will benefit from the new school.
Her life is a powerful example of the kind of faith the young, preschool students look up to and will one day develop for themselves. Please enjoy Nagesa’s testimony in her own words—
At the ministry in Uganda, we have quiet time and devotion every day and chapel on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. These engagements with my mentors, teachers, pastors, and friends have caused me to grow in my walk with the Lord. Through the Word of God, I have learned how much He loves me and that he rendered His life for me.
I have learned to trust in the Lord and seek Him in conditions that may not be the best of times, because I believe He is there!
Here are some of the ways being a follower of Jesus has changed me:
- I am obeying and respecting elders.
- I am now confident and no longer fear people.
- I can read His Word.
- I have grown spiritually, through praising, worshiping, and serving Him.
- I am continuing to have strong faith in Him.
- Jesus has taught me to love people.
- Jesus helps me to speak kindly.
In Matthew 7:7, the Lord calls us to seek and search for Him. I have learned that God is my Provider, so I worship Him. He made me who I am today!
