How God’s Provision Changed Our Entire Adoption Story

Every adoption story is unique,

but they all have one thing in common—God’s provision. Here at Lifesong, we love celebrating families who have experienced His generosity firsthand. Families like Seth and Becky’s, who recently adopted a little boy.

Here’s their story—

We are thankful to the Lord Jesus,

to our family and friends, and to partners like Lifesong who made the adoption of our youngest son possible.

When we began the adoption journey, we quickly discovered how vast a world it is, and we were learning as we went. There are many challenges to adopting, and one of the most daunting was the financial mountain we had to climb.

We began fundraising, but hit a wall at about 50% and went many months without raising any substantial funds. We were discouraged but were trusting in the Lord’s provision.

That was when Lifesong contacted us to say we were being offered a matching grant. Stunningly, in one month, we raised the remaining 50% of the funds needed. The Lifesong grant gave us the momentum we needed to reach the finish line financially.

Then, by God’s providence, the very weekend we hit 100% of our financial need, our agency said there was a mother that wanted to speak with us.

By the start of the following week, we were matched with our son and brought him home. Above all, we praise the Lord—and a deep and heartfelt thanks to Lifesong. They were God’s tool in uniting us with our son.

Lifesong was a joy to work with. They were easy to contact, swift to release the raised funds, and extremely helpful in answering questions.

“The matching grant ended up giving us the momentum to raise money above and beyond the amount that was matched. Not only was the grant a boost to our spirits, but it encouraged many people to give, including some folks to give a second and third time!”

God’s timing was so stunning.

Once we were awarded the Lifesong matching grant, we raised the remaining 50% in one month’s time. Literally the weekend we hit the 100% mark, we were matched and our son was placed in our family.

Our son was 8 months old at the time. So if the opportunity to adopt had been from birth we would not have had the funds and would not have been able to adopt. It was all in the Lord’s timing, and when we look back we see God’s provision in all of it.
