Summer Camp in 7 Exciting Photos | Ukraine Update

Summer presents many unique opportunities here and around the world for Christians to share the Gospel with kids in need. For teams in Ukraine, this is no exception.

With Constant Christian Presence (CCP) programs, multiple farm sites, and summer-specific camp ministries, the teams in Ukraine spend the hot summer months in joyful, busy service taking the love of Christ to the fatherless. Here are some recent photos from Lifesong Camp in Ukraine, where 50 children gathered in one place from orphanages in 4 different regions.

The campers had a wonderful opportunity to build friendships with other kids they might otherwise never have had the opportunity to meet. And because of shared experiences and similar life stories, they were able to bond and build memories that will last a lifetime. Even more exciting? Together, they were able to learn about Jesus in a loving, Christian environment. Through daily, practical study of the Bible, these precious kids got to learn that Jesus loves them and wants only good things for their lives.

These campers were also able to spend time with caring Christian mentors who want them to succeed in every area of life. Through various games and creative activities–including horseback riding and paddle boating–mentors were able to invest time talking to and listening to the campers share their heart. Many of these mentors are orphan graduates–meaning they are uniquely qualified to encourage these kids because they understand exactly where they are coming from and what they are facing on a daily basis.

Why Summer Camp Is Worth the Effort

This week of camp was sponsored by Dawson Church, a ministry located in the U.S. that has been faithfully involved in caring for orphans for many years. Here at Lifesong we are grateful for Dawson Church–as well as the staff and volunteers in Ukraine who spend their lives ministering to kids in orphanages through daily mentorship and regular activities. These week-long camps exist to deepen relationships and give campers an intensely fun and practical week of mentorship and discipleship in a setting they will always remember.

Being with the kids at camp is always a special time, but when kids get right with God? It’s a double blessing and makes it worth it for everyone who is working so hard to make camp possible.
