Harvesting Hope: How Lifesong Farms in Ukraine Thrives Amid War
This year, Lifesong Farms in Ukraine
has produced over 300,000 pounds of fruit and generated a record $1 million in sales, even during the war.
This is more than a financial milestone. It’s a testament to resilience, faith, and the unwavering hope that God is still at work. Even when the world feels unsteady.
Lifesong Farms in Ukraine is an innovative, commercial berry farm that empowers orphan graduates and caregivers through job creation and supports the economies of the communities we serve. While generating revenue to fuel ministry in Ukraine.
Every piece of fruit represents God’s goodness and the hard work of men and women—most of whom are orphanage graduates or members of vulnerable families—dedicated to providing for their loved ones and building a future in a country torn apart by war.
Meet Nikolay,
one of the dedicated team members at Lifesong Farms in Ukraine.
Once an orphan himself, he’s now part of a family both at home and at work. Alongside his wife, Nikolay is one of over 150 employees working to make a difference through Lifesong Farms.
Nikolay’s team has become like extended family to him.
Employees gather once a week for a small Bible study where they share prayer requests and grow together in faith. This is especially important during the war as many people are battling exhaustion, fear, and grief.
Nikolay shares—
“People became like family to me. Their love for Jesus and their desire to serve others reflected the character of Christ.”
Through his work and faith, Nikolay embodies the heart of Lifesong Farms—where the love of Christ turns coworkers into family—and where each member looks out for each other, even in the most challenging times.
And meet Anastasia,
another valued member of the farm team.
She, too, grew up in an orphanage from the age of seven after a difficult beginning.
She first learned about Lifesong Farms through our job skills training summer camps, which equip orphanage graduates and vulnerable individuals with practical tools for the future.
Her dedication and hard work stood out. So she was offered the opportunity to stay on as part of the team.
Anastasia shares—
“I know God’s plan is perfect. I don’t know everything, but I know God has a plan for me to be here.”
We, too, believe God’s perfect plan is unfolding in her life, and we’re honored to walk alongside Anastasia as she continues to grow and thrive at Lifesong Farms.
Lifesong Farms in Ukraine provides more than jobs.
They offer a lifeline.
By harnessing the power of hydroponic technology and the expertise of team members around the world, Lifesong Farms is expanding its products and services in local markets and through global exports—creating hundreds of jobs for orphan grads and caregivers—directly impacting thousands of families.
With roles in operations, agronomy, management, and sales, Lifesong Farms equips employees with the skills they need to support their loved ones and build a hopeful future.
And God continues to be faithful.
During this recent berry season, Lifesong Farms in Ukraine provided 50 full-time jobs and over 300 part-time jobs. And through the hard work of our team, they continued selling fruit to customers, creating a bit of normalcy and hope in the midst of chaos.
Additionally, these sales continue to generate vital income that goes directly back into funding the ministry, allowing our teams to keep making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families.
100% of all net profit from our farms goes directly to fund operations and in-country projects of Lifesong Ukraine.
Even in dark times, God is still faithfully providing.
Recently Denis shared with our team—
When I look at everything happening here in Ukraine right now—with so much grief, destruction, and trouble—we have no other choice than to be as close to the Lord as possible, because He has everything under His control. We can find our safety and comfort in Him.
We earnestly pray for an end to the war.
The devastation and heartbreak weigh heavily on our hearts. But in the meantime, we remain committed to serving orphaned and vulnerable children in this war-torn country for as long as God allows.
Even in the face of uncertainty, our ministry in Ukraine seeks to break the orphan cycle through the love and truth of the Gospel.
Through ministries like discipleship, job skills training, or work on Lifesong Farms, we continue to offer the light of hope in the darkest of times.
As we wait and pray, we will continue to care for the children, orphanage graduates, and vulnerable families—trusting God’s faithfulness to sustain us in the work He has called us to do.
As the Ukraine team often says: We continue to live with hope, and we continue to think forward and move forward.
