Miles Receives a Quality Education, the Bridge to a Better Life

At just 10 years old, Miles* lost both of his parents.

He moved in with his grandmother, who struggled to provide for him. So his education had to take a back seat, and slowly, his dreams began to slip away.

Thankfully, when Miles turned 12, he was introduced to our team in Tanzania. He received stability, a safe home, and the opportunity to attend school again. Our team became like family, cheering him on in his studies and helping him reignite his passion for learning.

At Lifesong, we stand by a 4-part pledge to the children we serve. The third part of the pledge affirms our commitment to providing quality education to orphaned and vulnerable children to provide a foundation for their future.

“Our Children” Will:

Be taught the Gospel and how to live as a follower of Jesus Christ

Not want for food, clothing, medical care, or shelter

Receive a quality education to provide a foundation for their future

Experience continued love and support while transitioning into adult living

Miles excelled at school, overcoming difficult circumstances with determination and the support of Christian mentors.

But his journey didn’t just teach him to excel academically. He also learned to live with others and build meaningful relationships, met people from diverse backgrounds that broadened his perspectives, and developed a passion for helping others in need.

In 2016, Miles celebrated his high school graduation, a milestone he once could only dream of. He was accepted into St. Augustine University, where he is now pursuing a bachelor’s degree in law.

Once an orphan with limited opportunities. Now, a confident university student.”

Miles’ story is a testament to the power of education, the bridge to a better life. And because of Miles, the orphaned and vulnerable children who look up to him are encouraged that, with the right support, they too can rise above any challenge.
