Announcing a New President to Further Lifesong’s Gospel-Centered Mission

An important announcement from Lifesong for Orphans Founder and President, Gary Ringger—

Thank you for your continued support in helping bring joy and purpose to orphaned and vulnerable children. Your partnership is invaluable as we work together to make an eternal impact.

For the past several years, Marla and I—along with the executive board—have been praying on a regular basis and seeking God’s direction on who would succeed me as President of Lifesong for Orphans. With a multitude of counselors, we have sought clear direction. And we have sensed deep confirmation from God with peace and unity.

With thankful hearts and the unanimous support of our Board of Directors, we are pleased to announce Matt Hughes as President of Lifesong. Beginning in February 2025.

Meet Matt Hughes.

Matt brings a wealth of experience and a unique background that aligns beautifully with Lifesong’s mission. Matt is a mature believer and embodies our core values. He serves as an elder at his local church, which actively supports a vibrant adoption community with a dedicated church adoption fund in partnership with Lifesong.

For the past 22 years, Matt has faithfully traveled to East Africa. He spends approximately six weeks each year supporting and growing TCRC, the Tanzania ministry affiliated with Lifesong.

In addition, Matt is the co-founder of Mirus Research. A company that develops software to help businesses better serve their customers. This combination of ministry and business experience perfectly complements the DNA of Lifesong.

What’s next?

Matt joins Andy Lehman and Kory Kaeb as our experienced and trusted leadership team. We have every confidence that their combined passion to reach orphaned and vulnerable children with holistic, Gospel-centered care will continue to steward and guide the ministry, as God directs.

As Matt accepts the position, he shares—

“Lifesong’s intentional efforts to saturate all aspects of ministry to orphaned and vulnerable children with the beauty of the Gospel and to unashamedly proclaim the sufficiency of Christ is refreshingly Biblical. That’s what attracted me to the ministry many years ago and continues to fuel my passion for it.”

As chair of the board, Rod Brenneman, confirms—

“Our board has been in prayerful discernment concerning the importance of this leadership transition. It is clear to us that Matt Hughes has been brought to us ‘for such a time as this.’ We are grateful for the support of our team. And for Gary and Marla who will continue to serve as executive board members, orphan advocates, and humble leaders.”

Together with faithful advocates and supporters like you, we will remain Gospel-centered as we help orphans find families through adoption and preservation, help orphans become leaders through education and job skills, and invest in business fueling mission with sustainable businesses and job creation.

Thank you for your part in this important mission.

Gratefully,

Gary Ringger
Founder and Orphan Advocate
