Whether you’re a stay-at-home mom, a business owner, or a pastor (or anything in between!) you have been uniquely gifted by God to serve the fatherless and vulnerable in some way. How can we be certain of this? James 1:27 tells us that religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father includes visiting orphans. And Scripture will never tell us to do something without equipping us to obey.

Meet Gobena and Mulunesh
When 70-year-old Gobena and his wife, Mulunesh, found an abandoned infant under a false banana tree in Ethiopia, the couple knew they had to help. “Because she is God’s soul,” Gobena would later explain.
Carefully, they took the baby back to their home and began to care for her as best they could, but it didn’t take long for them to realize they couldn’t do it long-term. They walked an hour and a half to a police station where they learned about a unique option called adoption.
At the same time, God was preparing a couple in the U.S.–Steve and Danae Lehman–to bring a little girl into their lives via adoption. When Lehmans met Gobena and Mulunesh they were impacted by the couple’s compassion and deep commitment to their community.
After the Lehmans brought their daughter home, they knew they wanted to do more to help orphans. Inspired by Gobena and Mulunesh, they started a coffee ministry. 100% of net profits are reinvested into orphans around the world. What did they name the coffee ministry?
You guessed it. Gobena Coffee.
Today, buying a bag of Gobena coffee provides education, food, shelter, and Christian parenting for orphaned children.
