$10,000 in Pocket Change | Family Friday
For many years, my wife and I have been talking about adopting a little girl from China. God finally put it on our hearts to begin the process in 2013 and we started to research the details of the adoption process. With an estimated total of $35-40,000 in expenses, we were blessed to discover that organizations like Lifesong exist to help families with fundraising. We were able to receive grants through other organizations and fund a lot of the adoption with personal savings.
But two months before we were to bring our daughter home, we still had $10,000 left in expenses. Through Lifesong, our friends and family were able to contribute to our adoption and help us raise the last $10,000 we needed! Our friends and family were happy to play a part in bringing our daughter home. We are so thankful we were able to raise funds through Lifesong, and we don’t hesitate to tell others in the adoption process about this wonderful resource!
Looking back on all the people and circumstances that moved our family towards adopting Elise, it is amazing to realize and know that God was working throughout this entire process. There isn’t one specific thing that stands out, but a combination of experiences that God put in both our lives that turned our hearts toward adoption and more specifically, China. When we were finally able to hold our daughter and welcome her into our home, we believed that God had been working for many years to make that moment possible even as early as our high school and college years.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11
