Micron’s Amazing Potential | An Update from Thailand

Because of your support, we are able to explore unique schooling options for the children we serve. When teachers and staff see potential in every child, they begin to flourish and accomplish things they once could only dream of achieving.
As always, don’t forget to check out the encouraging story and prayer requests below.

Micron’s mother, Suni, moved to the city to find work.
She met her husband there, and together, they had two sons, Micron and his older brother.
When Micron was just one year old, his mother was introduced to church. The Gospel captivated her heart, and she committed her life to Christ. Suni’s husband was enraged and disapproved of her faith. He told her she could either choose to stay with him or God but not both. Suni courageously refused to deny her newfound identify in Christ, so her husband abandoned her and Micron, taking their oldest son with him.
On her own with a one-year-old son to take care of, Suni sought help from the church and moved into Lifesong housing in 2017. Our team in Thailand supported her as Micron experienced multiple health challenges.

At the age of 7, Micron entered first grade in a local public school.
But he started to exhibit aggressive behaviors, was caught stealing, and became generally disobedient. Due to large class sizes, overworked teachers, and a lack of resources, the public school was unable to provide extra support.
Halfway through his second year, Suni and our team in Thailand decided to explore alternatives and applied to a Christian international school. Since being accepted last year, Micron is surrounded by a team of teachers, counselors, and administrators who are committed to coming alongside him as he develops not only academically but spiritually too.
Now, every morning, Micron wakes up early to worship and attend a Bible study before school.
And in his latest report card, his teacher shared, “Micron is a friendly learner with great potential, and with focus and support, Micron is likely to achieve significant growth.”
A ministry leader shares—
“Since joining his new school, Micron is less aggressive, more polite, and shows a keen interest in learning and reading. He is making lots of friends, loves his teachers, and is kind.”
At Lifesong, we stand by a 4-part pledge to the children we serve. The third part of the pledge affirms our commitment to providing quality education to orphaned and vulnerable children to provide a foundation for their future.
Since every child we serve has a unique background, providing quality education calls for individual assessment and planning. Our team in Thailand shares—
“As each child’s needs are considered when placing them into a school, the children we serve experience being seen, known, and loved for who they are.”

Micron’s story is impactful beyond his own success.
As the other children and staff have watched Micron thrive in a new learning environment, they are reminded that there is hope for every child to achieve his or her educational goals.
Another team member shares—
“When it comes to quality education, Micron’s story, and in fact, every current child’s story, is monumental. This is truly a celebration for the ages!”
